Dwyer RSF024V Flowmeter: Air and Water Flow Measurement Guide
When a process needs a quick, local flow check, a direct-reading meter can make the operating point easier to see. The Dwyer RSF024V is a variable-area flowmeter for air or water, with separate scale units for each medium.
RSF024V at a glance
The RSF024V is designed for operators who need a clear local indication of air or water flow. Its rotating scale carries direct-reading graduations for both media, so the correct units can be positioned for reading after installation.
Published maximum rates
- Air: 20 SCFM (575 SLPM)
- Water: 4 GPM (15 LPM)
- Vertical in-line or panel mounting

How the RSF024V measures flow
A float moves inside a tapered flow tube as fluid passes through it. The operator reads the float against the scale selected for the medium. The RSF series protects the borosilicate glass flow tube with a polycarbonate shield and includes a magnifying lens to help make the graduations easier to read.
The scale rotates, helping position the graduations for visibility after installation. The RSF series is available for vertical in-line or panel mounting and is shipped assembled with standard mounting hardware.
Confirm the range for your operating point
The published maximum rates are useful for screening, but they are not a substitute for checking the required flow against the exact instrument scale. Note the normal, minimum, and maximum flow, along with the medium, before selecting a model. If the process spends much of its time near the bottom of a scale, ask the supplier to confirm the usable reading range and expected accuracy there.
The Dwyer series catalog lists accuracy of ±7% of full scale and repeatability of ±0.25% of full scale. Treat these as series-level reference figures and confirm they apply to the exact configuration being purchased.
Check mounting and process conditions
Decide whether the meter will be installed vertically in-line or in a panel. A variable-area meter depends on its intended orientation for a stable float reading, so follow the specified mounting position. Before ordering, confirm the connection type, wetted materials, operating pressure, temperature, and fluid compatibility for the exact model and process.
For gas service, confirm that the flow scale matches the gas and reference conditions required by the application. For water service, confirm the selected water range and keep the tube clean enough to read the float clearly.
When is a local flowmeter a good fit?
A direct-reading meter can suit a process where an operator needs to check flow at the equipment without relying on a separate display. The RSF024V is worth considering when the application uses air or water, falls within its specified scale, and benefits from a visible local indication.
If the process requires a transmitted signal, automated control, or a different fluid, verify those requirements before selecting this model. Do not assume that a visual flowmeter provides an electrical output.
Questions to ask before ordering
- Is the medium air or water, and does the scale match the required units?
- What are the normal, minimum, and maximum flow rates?
- Is the planned mounting vertical in-line or panel mount?
- Are the connection, wetted materials, pressure, and temperature suitable?
- Does the required operating point fall in a readable part of the scale?
Review the Dwyer Series RSF catalog for manufacturer specifications, then confirm the configuration against your process.
