Flowmeters

Flowmeters covers instruments for measuring liquid and gas flow, including variable-area rotameters, turbine and paddle-wheel meters, and clamp-on or inline ultrasonic flowmeters. The range is led by Dwyer Instruments, with GE Panametrics ultrasonic systems, Great Plains Industries turbine meters and Newport Electronics products. Common uses include water and wastewater treatment, chemical dosing, fuel and oil transfer, compressed air and gas monitoring, and HVAC balancing. When specifying a flowmeter, start with the fluid and its properties, pipe size and material, and the expected minimum and maximum flow. Then consider required accuracy, pressure drop, output signal or display, and installation constraints such as straight-pipe runs. Non-intrusive clamp-on ultrasonic meters are useful for temporary surveys or where process shutdown is not possible.
